Chalgrove Flood Alleviation Group(CFAG) is calling for volunteers to help clear the Ditch on Saturday 13th July, starting at 09:00. We are looking for anyone who can spare a bit of time to help us clear the ditch to the point where the Council can finish the job by jetting out the drainage pipes that allows the water to drain into the Brook as it should.
No power tools required, but if you have rakes and/or manual cutting tools, they would be useful. Wheelbarrows would also be handy! We need people to help with the actual clearance, and others to help transport what we remove to a skip situated in the car park.
Please remember - if you are coming to help, safety first! Please make sure you supervise any children, and keep them away from the ditch itself. Make sure you wear gloves, and if get into the water, make sure you have waterproof gloves if you have any cuts on your hands. Above all, make sure you wash your hands afterwards!
This is a job that really needs doing, as anyone who used the Recreation Ground or Frogmore Field after the heavy rain will know. Many hands make light work, so we hope to see as many of you there as possible, as we try to make Chalgrove a safer and better place to live!
